Fundraiser - Looking for help

Sudanese Girl Orig. Oil Painting by Enzie Shahmiri

Dear friends and visitors!

I painted a little Sudanese girl at a feeding center in Darfur for an online auction organized through the United Nations UNHCR. Unfortunately the auction never took place and Ms. Caitlin Van Orden (Development Assistant - USA for UNHCR)suggested I raise funds by auctioning off the painting myself on Ebay.

Now Ebay shoppers are usually looking for a bargain and I am trying to raise funds for people in dire need of assistance. At first I did not like this idea at all, but then I thought maybe if enough people knew about the auction and helped me spread the word, there is something that can be done.

This is a request for your help! The auction will take place on October 1st, 2008 on Ebay through Mission Fish and will run for approx. 10 days.

This painting is a concrete way to provide humanitarian relief to the hundreds of thousands of people--mainly women and children--who have been forced to flee the unspeakable violence in Darfur. The proceeds from the sale of this work on ebay will go directly to support the UN Refugee Agency's operations in Darfur, providing protection, shelter, water, medical care and education. Please support this work!

Enzie, please know how much we appreciate what you are doing. It is kind souls like yours that make our work possible!

Best,
